FREE Winter Trails Day at Fort Snelling State Park - Sat. Jan. 9

Minnesota's 4 seasons provide plenty of outdoor opportunities 4 play! National Winter Trails Day has evolved into something bigger and better: Winter's 4Play!

Try something new at this open-house style event. Outdoor outfitter REI's experts will provide all the gear you need and show you how to use it. Fort Snelling State Park, local outdoors groups and art organizations will also provide activities that show how fun winter can be. FREE activities include: 
- Snowshoeing
- Cross-country skiing
- Skijoring
- Ice fishing
- Ice harvesting & Ice sculpting with the National Park Service
- US Forest Service naturalist guided hikes
- Bonfires & hot chocolate
- Art in the park with Northern Lights.MN
- Food for purchase, giveaways and more!

No registration required. This is an open-house style event where you can come and go. Play for a short time and try just the activities you want or stay all day and try everything!  It's free and open to the public, however a valid state park permit is required on each vehicle - a day pass is $5, or $25 for an annual pass (valid at all state parks). Permits may be purchased the day of the event at the park office.

This isn't a Scouting specific event but your son can definitely complete a few outdoor-related rank advancement activities while participating.
