What do Cub Scouts do during a weekend summer camp?

Last weekend, Cub Scout Pack 151's boys made memories at Camp Akela.  Here's just a few of the many things they experienced together.

  • canoeing
  • tent camping
  • bb-gun shooting
  • swimming
  • engineering "Angry Birds" towers... then they knocked them down with team catapults
  • pocket knife safety training (Whittling Chip)
  • flag ceremonies
  • archery
  • showed respect for themselves and each other
  • campfire building
  • pedal-powered off road quad bikes
  • obstacle courses
  • hiking
  • campfire skits
  • woodworking
  • row boating
  • field games
  • tower climbing
  • barnyard visit
  • bouldering
  • rock range target shooting
  • S.T.E.M. activities
  • built long-lasting friendships
  • stepped out of their normal life into an outdoor experience
  • gained confidence

Those who attended Camp Akela passed a number of their rank requirements and earned lots of electives.

  • Tigers:
    Requirements 3D fitness, 5D nature, 5G nature.  Electives 17 crafts, 25 skills, 31 nature , 35 fitness, 40 pool.
  • Wolves:
    Requirements 2A skills, 2C skills, 2D skills, 2G skills, 5A crafts, 5D crafts, 5E crafts, 8A fitness.  
    Electives 17A skills, 17B skills, 20C archery, 20N bb guns, 23A campsite, 23F campsite
  • Bears: Requirements 3i flagpole, 5D nature, 9D fitness, 15B, 19 skills, 20B crafts. 
    Elective 19A pool, 19B pool, 19D pool, 20A archery, 25B camp, 25D campsite, 25E religious service, 25G camp  
  • Webelos: 
    Requirements Athlete 2 & 3, Fitness 5, 6 & 7, Naturalist 9, 10 Outdoorsman 7, Scientist 6, 7, 8.
  • Belt Loops (All ranks): All Scouts earn BB-Gun Shooting and Archery Belt Loops at their respective stations.
  • Webelos earn the Outdoorsman Activity Pin at Webelos Outpost.
