*Date Correction* Swim Night for summer campers and Webelos

Cub Scouts attending Summer Camp Akela & Camp Navajo

Mike Bailey has generously offered to arrange something that'll save you time at Camp Akela and Camp Navajo.  The White Bear Lake YMCA will provide the opportunity for Cub Scouts and their adult partners to take the Boy Scouts of America's swim test.  If you take the test at the YMCA, you'll be able to take more time settling into your campsite in August.  It removes a hectic level of activity from your check in. Upon completion, you'll receive a certificate that you'll present to the lifeguards at camp.

Webelos Aquanot and Swimming Belt Loop options

Take the BSA's swim test (see above).  Make progress on your Webelos Activity Pin for Aquanaut, (which includes the Swimming Belt Loop) and have some water fun!

The Webelos will be the only ones working on their Aquanaut, but other scouts can earn the Swimming Loop that night if they want.  The requirements are linked below.  Mr. Bailey's also working on permission to have some fun pool time, including their water slides outside.

  1. Explain rules of Safe Swim Defense. Emphasize the buddy system.
  2. Play a recreational game in the water with your den, pack, or family.
  3. While holding a kick board, propel yourself 25 feet using a flutter kick across the shallow end of the swimming area.

RSVP ASAP

Please let us know if you're planning to attend.  We need to give the YMCA a headcount.
