Service: Support our Soldiers and Sailors right here in Hugo

posted Oct 29, 2014, 10:29 AM by Cub Scout Pack 151   [ updated Nov 1, 2014, 8:00 PM ]

Scouts show good citizenship! This is a great opportunity for us to show our appreciation to our deployed men and women in uniform.  Over the next few weeks we'll be collecting your hand drawn notes and pictures. On Friday, Nov. 14 we'll be helping to assemble care package items. The notes, drawings and items we package will be sent to overseas service members:

  • MN National Guard - 34th Combat Aviation Brigade
  • MN National Guard - 2nd Battalion, 147th Assault Helicopter Battalion
  • US Navy - U.S.S. Cole Sailors
  • your favorite deployed Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine. (Please specify APO)

Be an artist and a writer at home:

Hand drawn pictures and notes are a big treat for the military members who receive care packages. At home, please ask your Scouts (and siblings) to write out thank you notes and pictures. This will give our effort a personized touch. If you can't be there on Nov. 14, please give your notes and pictures to your den leader at your next meeting.

RSVP to help at City Hall

Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts are welcome.

Hugo City Hall
Friday, November 14
6:00pm
 - 8:00pm
(or however long you can stay)

Be a helper:
We've been asked to help haul in boxes of wish list items from a truck to the Oneka Room at City Hall.  The major task will be taking candy from huge bags and repacking them in gallon size zip lock bags. Also, taking one pound coffee bags and placing them in the gallon size zip lock bags. There might be other items that need to be placed in zip lock bags such as soap, toiletries, and socks. Friday is the pre-assemble portion of the event. After we're finished, a separate "Minnesota Packers" team will complete the process and address the boxes.

Questions?

Email Pack 151 Outings Chair if you have questions.  Please RSVP so we know how many to plan for.
