Parent & Committee Meeting
Tonight, Monday, Aug. 12
7:00 pm
Hugo City Hall

Cub Scouting encourages closeness to family. Pack 151's program gives you opportunities to take part in activities with your son that you normally couldn't do. It provides a positive way for parents and their son to grow closer together, and encourages you to spend quality time together. In this way, Cub Scouting is a program for the entire family, and your involvement is vital to the program's success.

Parental involvement

Parent and family involvement is an essential part of Cub Scouting. When we speak of parents or families, we are not referring to any particular family structure. Some boys live with two parents, some live with one parent, some have foster parents, and some live with other relatives or guardians. Whoever a boy calls his family is his family in Cub Scouting.

Many of our Pack's boys have now transitioned to Boy Scouts, along with their parent volunteers. In order to maintain and improve Hugo's quality Cub Scouting program, all of our current Pack parents must pitch in.

Many hands make light work

There are lots of ways you can make a difference in your son's Scouting experienece.  You already know that taking an active part in his Den meetings is important.  There are other ways you're needed too.  Your son is part of a Pack, and that larger group needs volunteers to provide all our Scouts a quality program.  Volunteers help out with:

  • Planning Pack meetings.
  • Keeping track of Scout advancements.
  • Running our Pinewood Derby and Rain Gutter Regatta.
  • Coordinating our Blue & Gold Dinner.
  • Keeping track of our finances.
  • Helping with popcorn & wreath sales.
  • Chairing Committee Meetings.
  • Coordinating camping trips and other outings.
  • Recruiting new Scouts to our Pack.
  • and many, many other "behind the scenes" tasks.

Moving forward, our Pack needs your involvement and help. There are opporunities and expectations for every Pack 151 family to get involved, even if it's just a small amount.  As Scouting promotes family togetherness. Each family should be actively involved in their son’s Scouting program.

Tonight's Parent & Pack Committee Meeting

Tonight, we encourage parents to attend an important meeting.  The Pack's Committee needs your input on planning activities and events for the Pack's coming Cub Scouting season.  It's critical that each family participates in the months ahead, even if it's for a small task.  If you can't make it tonight, but you'd like to volunteer for something special, please email Charlie Niven, Pack 151's Cubmaster.  We'll follow up with those who don't attend tonight with a list of volunteer opportunites that haven't been filled.

We look forward to working together with you towards a great Cub Scouting season for your son.
