Pack Update - Polar Cubs and Blue & Gold Banquet

posted Feb 23, 2012, 6:27 AM by Cub Scout Pack 151
Hello Pack Parents.  We have just a couple of items to cover related to this Saturday's Polar Cubs Day Camp and our Upcoming Blue and Gold Dinner on Saturday, March 3rd.

Polar Cubs

The paperwork is prepared and the drive is long for those of you who are signed up for Polar Cubs Day camp this Saturday.  So, we will forgo gathering in Hugo to caravan down to Cannon Falls.  Instead, we ask that everyone meet up with your Dens in the Parade Field next to the Dining Hall of the Lower Camp of the attached map at 8:15.  Parking space will be at a premium, so the earlier you arrive, the shorter your hike will be to meet up with the group.

To get to Phillippo Scout Camp, head south on Hwy 52 out of Downtown St. Paul.  Just past Hampton, take the Hwy 56 exit toward Red Wing.  After 7 miles, look for 310th Street and turn Left.  Follow to 32nd Avenue Way and look for the Camp entrance on the left. Estimates put the drive from Hugo at just over an hour.  If you want to make your own map or navigation, the street address is 30654 32nd Avenue Way - Cannon Falls, MN 55009.

The camp is sponsoring a Food Drive again this year, and they are asking all participants to bring a non-perishable food item to contribute to the Food Drive. Please dress for the weather with plenty of layers.  Be sure to have winter boots - tennis shoes and leather hiking boots will not be allowed.  Bring two pairs of mittens or gloves, a hat and/or facemask, and a snowsuit or snowpants.  The forecast is for temperatures starting out in the mid 20s and getting up to the low 30s with plenty of sun.  Activities include playing in the snow, Tubing and some skits and are planned to go until 2:40 with an indoor lunch served.  The Lions & Tigers will be grouped together, as will the Wolves and Bears.  The Webelos will have their own track.

Blue and Gold Dinner

The Blue and Gold Dinner is in a couple of weeks on March 3rd at the Hugo Legion.  The Pack is providing Broasted Chicked from Blacksmiths Restaurant along with Beverages and Cupcakes for dessert.  We are asking each Den to provide side dishes for their own families along with 4 volunteers each to help with cleanup following dinner.  Work with your Dens to determine who brings what and who will be helping out.  Dinner will begin promptly at 5:30 that evening and we'll have a full program of presentations and entertainment.  Everyone is encouraged to join us for Cub Scouting's biggest night of the year.  Please RSVP by February 24 whether you are joining us or cannot so we can get a proper dinner count.  We also have requests from some Grandparents and other extended family, so we need to know if we can accommodate them.  You can RSVP here -

If you can help with set up and decorations that afternoon, please reach out to Shawn Pade at

Thanks everyone.  We're looking forward to another couple of great Scouting events.
