Pack Update

posted Nov 17, 2011, 7:14 PM by Cub Scout Pack 151
Hello Pack 151 Parents.  We wanted to provide some important information to those who missed our last Pack meeting and provide some reference information to everyone.

Fundraising Update

The Pack generated $15,000 in Popcorn Sales, up from $11,000 last year.  We also generated $8,500 in Wreath Sales up from $7,000 last year.  Great job everyone for your efforts in our Fundraising Campaign. Even with our increased numbers, we will meet our budget numbers and be able to invest in some new Pack equipment over the next year.

The Den and Pack Top Performers were recognized at the Pack Meeting last night.  They have all been told of their extra bonuses earned.  Popcorn prizes have been ordered. Unless you told me otherwise, Scouts who sold any popcorn will receive a Patch and those who sold more than $250 will receive a Walmart Gift Card.  All other Popcorn related prizes can be claimed at www.buyscoutpopcorn.com.  If you have questions about what your scout has earned, let us know.

Wreath Pickup Info

Wreaths will be available for pickup tomorrow Nov. 18th from 7-9 or Saturday the 19th from 10-5 at 13985 Elmcrest Ave. If you can spare an hour or two, please contact beanderson711@gmail.com and let him know when you are available to help hand out wreaths.

December Pack Meeting (Date and Location Changed) Due to lack of interest in the Santa Dinner, the Pack Committee has rescheduled the December Pack meeting for Sunday the 11th at 1:30PM.  The Pack meeting will be held at the Sea Life Aquarium in the Mall of America.  They will be offering a 2-hour program with a tour and all Scouts will earn the Wildlife Conservation Belt Loop.  We are taking advantage of a reward for meeting our recruiting goals this fall and a negotiated upgrade to allow the Pack to pay for each Scout  that wishes to join us along with 1 adult partner.  Additional Adults and Siblings can accompany our group for $6 each.  The only stipulation is that the Pack must have an accurate total head count and Pre-Pay by Nov. 28th (estimated date?).  If you did not sign up at the Pack meeting and wish to attend, please get word to your Den Leader and arrange for payment to the Pack, either by designating use of your Scout Account funds or bringing a check to your upcoming Den meetings by the end of the month.  We will also NEED to collect Short Term Medical Forms for each participant that day.  If you took part in the Fall Festival, we have your forms.  You will only need to submit the forms if you have not already done so this fall.  Turn the forms into your Den as well and they will pass them along at the Dec. 5th Committee Meeting.  The Uniform for the Sea Life Aquarium will be our debut for the Class B T-Shirts.  If you didn't pick up your shirt, they will have them at your Den meetings as well.

Polar Cubs Registration is now open

The Winter Full-Day Camp from the Northern Star Council will be held on Feb. 25th at Phillippo Scout Reservation in Cannon Falls, MN. $30 for Scouts $10 for Adults (No Siblings allowed at this camp) If you did not sign up at the Pack meeting and wish to attend, please get word to your Den Leader and arrange for payment to the Pack, either by designating use of your Scout Account funds or bringing a check to your upcoming Den meetings by the end of the month.  We will also NEED to collect Short Term Medical Forms for each participant that day.  If you took part in the Fall Festival, we have your forms.  You will only need to submit the forms if you have not already done so this fall. ALL Scouts will need to turn in a fresh Camping Participant Waiver for Polar Cubs. Turn the forms into your Den as well and they will pass them along at the Dec. 5th Committee Meeting.

Spring Family Camp Interest Count

We are planning our Pack's annual Weekend Spring Family Camp for May 4-6 at Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp about 4 miles NE of Stillwater. We will be arranging cabins to accommodate everyone, but you can choose to camp in tents instead.  In order to reserve enough space, we are looking for a count of interested families.  If you did not indicate your interest at the Pack meeting, let your Den Leaders know that you are interested in attending and how many members of your family would come along.

January Pinewood Derby and February Blue & Gold Dinner planning is underway The first 2 months of the year bring our biggest and best Pack events.  We are seeking alot of help organizing and carrying out these events to make them as fun and well run as possible.  Sub-committees will be forming at the Dec. 5th Pack Committee Meeting at 7pm at Hugo City Hall.  Please join us that night.  Learn more about these events below.

The Pack Pinewood Derby is January 28th at a location yet to be determined.  Jeff McLean is the Derby Chair. We are seeking parents to help organize, setup and run the check in process and the race day.  The more help we get, the better because our Pack is in charge of running the Many Waters District Pinewood Race Day in April and we will use our Pack's derby as preparation for that effort.

The Blue and Gold Dinner is February 11th at the Hugo Legion Hall. This event is a birthday party for Cub Scouts and extended family is invited to help us celebrate and we may invite some community guests as well.  Shawn Pade is the Blue & Gold Chair. We are seeking parents to help organize, decorate and run the dinner party.  Help us showcase our Pack to your families and to our community.
