Happy December, Pack Parents. We have
some news to share as we enter into the Winter months. Some Pack Calendar
items have shifted due to further venue challenges, so please make note.
If you ever have a question about upcoming Pack events, you can always go the Pack’s website.
Fundraising Update – The only prizes we are
still waiting for are the Gift Cards and Nerf Guns. Once they come in, we
will get all of the tickets and prizes out as quickly as we can via the Dens.
December Pack Meeting – to keep this email
shorter, we are sending a separate email with the final logistics for Sunday’s
outing only to families who are signed up. If you have a question, please
let us know.
Just a reminder that Polar Cubs sign ups are
due on December 11th! We will be attending Polar Cubs at
Phillipo Scout Reservation (near Cannon Falls, MN) on February 25, 2012.
The cost is $30 per scout, and $10 per adult. A current list of families
that are signed up to attend can be found at the bottom of this email.
Pinewood Derby Cars have been distributed to the Den Leaders. They will
either be handed out at Sunday’s outing or at your December Den’s
Meetings. More Pack Pinewood news below.
At our Monthly Pack Committee Meeting (Full Minutes are available at http://www.hugocubscouts.org/home/parent-resources) we re-organized out Winter Pack schedule. Highlights
are below:
- The
January Pack Gathering will be a sledding party on Saturday, January
21st beginning at 1:30 at Lakewood Hills Park in White Bear Lake. Scouts and their families are
welcome to bring any and all sledding equipment they have and a cup for
Hot Cocoa which will be provided by the Pack.
- Webelos
Crossover will also take place on a weekday evening sometime in
January. All of the Webelo2 Scouts will have completed their Arrow
of Light by then and we don’t want to hold them back from continuing their
Journey in Scouting. More info to come, but please plan to join us
for the 1-hour Crossover Ceremony and Cake to celebrate their
accomplishments and highlight what each Cub Scout is working towards.
- The
Pack Pinewood Derby has shifted to February 4th at the Hugo
Legion. Check-in will be staggered by Rank with Webelos starting at
10am, Bears at 10:30, Wolves at 11am, Tigers at 11:30 and Lions at
Noon. We will be using the Council’s Derby Rules which can be found
here. http://www.northernstarbsa.org/Forms/Activities/PinewoodDerbyRules.pdf.
There will be a separate email with more details coming soon. We
still need a few parents to help with the details and making sure the
event runs smoothly. Please make plans to attend our planning
meeting on January 9th at 7pm at the Legion in Hugo.
- Pack
Re-chartering will also be done at the Pack Pinewood Derby. This is
when you make your commitment to Scouting for next year, so there will be
dues to be paid by check or using your Scout Account that day.
- The
Pack Blue and Gold Dinner also needed to shift to Saturday, March 3rd
and will be held at the Hugo Legion. Shawn Pade has a handful of
Sub-Committee members and will be meeting to do more planning soon.
We are planning to at least cater the main course, so we are NOT seeking
cooks this year. If you are interested in helping plan the Cub Scout
birthday party, please let us know.
- The
next Pack Committee Meeting is January 23rd, 7pm at Hugo City
Hall. Pease join us if you are able. We have found some new
Parent Leadership volunteers recently, but we still have 1-2 ongoing
positions as well as some 1-time a year type jobs we would like to have
someone take charge of, like recruiting. Please inquire about these
possibilities with any Pack leader and we will get you more info. Together
Everyone Achieves More!
Thanks everyone. Have a safe and happy
holiday season.
